Are you looking for a place to reinvigorate and destress from school or work? Or do you want to witness enchanting landscapes in a chilling low temperature? Why choose when you can have both. Take a weekend breather in the Municipality of Alamada - one of the 18 municipalities in Cotabato province.
Endowed with an abundant agricultural land and beautiful eco-tourism sites, Alamada offers a truly thrilling and refreshing experience.
Last January 2018, I visited Alamada together with my senior high school (SHS) classmates for our travel vlog competition in compliance with our Creative Non-fiction subject. We conducted our travel vlog during weekends, and chose Alamada because of its scenic landscapes, cold breeze, and the presence of various view decks and agricultural farms.
If you are a nature lover, then by all means spend your weekend in the Municipality of Alamada together with your friends, families, or workmates. Here are some of the must-visit local attractions:
Asik-Asik Falls
It is the crown jewel of Alamada situated in Sitio Dulao of Barangay Upper Dado in Alamada, North Cotabato. The potable waters come out from the spaces between rocks and sprinkle down along with the lush green water-loving plants producing a curtain-like scenery that stretches for about 140 meters wide and 60 meters high. The road is now fully paved and is accessible for both private and public vehicles. The water was satisfyingly cold, and the water is suitable for drinking.
I would recommend to do stretching first before going down on the 376-paved stone steps towards the falls. It is quite tiring, but you will get rewarded as you witness the majestic work of nature.
Rangayen

It is dubbed as “Little Baguio” of Alamada because of its chilling low temperature environment perfect for a warm native coffee, and the place offers a picturesque view of mountain ranges and plains of Alamada. Rangayen is also a home of agricultural farms filled with vibrant blooming flowers, cool weather crops like lettuce, cabbage, and strawberry. Attractions such as Sacdalan farm, Camp heaven’s view, Ostique RnR café, and The Tent City.
All these attractions are along the highway, so it is good for road trips. Also, the place is good for camping and star-gazing activity. I would recommend bringing jackets and socks to keep you warm. Additionally, if you love to eat vegetables you can buy here before going home as the price is cheaper compared to central local market.
Pobre Hidden Spring Resort

This is located at Brgy. Lower Dado, the pool has overflowing natural spring water and the resort can accommodate different events including an overnight stay which is affordable. Additionally, you can rent the resort for a day if you want privacy with your friends, workmates, or your family.
How to go there?
You can reach Alamada through Libungan or Banisilan using the Libungan-Alamada-Banisilan road which are fully paved. Libungan to Alamada is about 23km while Banisilan to Poblacion Alamada is about 45km. Using public transportation, you can choose among jeepneys, vans, tricycles, and single motorcycle that are available in the area.
However, I would recommend bringing your private vehicles to enjoy therapeutic beauty of nature in the Municipality. For more information visit their official website at https://www.alamada.gov.ph/.
