A Highland Escapade

Tourism is one of the sectors that have been greatly affected by the unprecedented crisis brought by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. For the industry to recover after a long pandemic hiatus, the Department of Tourism is encouraging domestic travel in the Philippines. With this, various natural and man-made attractions are emerging within the Philippines. Filipinos are now traveling to visit local attractions as a way to support the rebuilding of the tourism sector.

Currently, there are various tourist attractions emerging in Region 12 - SOCCSKSARGEN. Each municipality boasts its unique attractions by applying different strategies to pull visitors to visit their businesses.

Nowadays, the new trend among local tourists is going to highland places featuring flowers, free-flowing spring pools, majestic landscapes, and scenery. In this blog, we will feature the local attractions of Pigcawayan, a municipality in the landlocked province of Cotabato, Region 12. It has 40 barangays and one of them is the Barangay Kimarayag. Kimarayag is a nature-loving barangay surrounded by lush greenery valleys and the calming sound of a stream burbles as it travels over rocks and branches.
